Products and Pricing them

Products and the descriptions

Products

There are two ways to add a product

Add by Form or by editing a Table, Switching views to Product Bulk Edit and on the Three Dots  Open Excel Online  one of my favorite features to change many rows at a time. save  Upload and Track that the Data is Submitted and Accepted.

Bulk editing the Product table requires that new entry products are entered in Draft or they will not import

Or Add the one Product via a Form  Add Product

Adding a new product form will require the Product Name (ie Widget)

Fields like Manufacture (ie Widget Maker) and description should be filled out and will be used in related tables like Products on a quote.

For Product ID, I recommend the Manufacturer, Product Name in this we call it Widget Maker, Widget

Additional Fields are required like Unit Group, Default Unit, Decimals Supported, and any Red-asterisk within the form.

Save the product in Draft and then turn to active and save again.

Pre-requisites to product pricing and terms to learn Product Cost and List Price which can be added to the product by clicking Additional Details

Add and Update the Product Cost and date the Cost was last priced or quoted. Add and Update the List Price which is a term to learn. List Price is a Marketed Price from a Manufacture for Distributors to sell to their customers. Once the Cost and List Price are added now the product can be added to a Price List. Pricing from Manufactures is dynamic are more dynamic when made to Order.

Click (Plus+) New Price List Item under Additional Details

Product IDs are Unique, and are more unique if they include the Manufacture then Product Number, this way two identical product numbers from differing manufactures are not in interference

a Product gets placed onto a Price List, and a Product can Exist on more than One Price List and the sales price can be calculated from Markup of Current Cost, or Percent of List
